ROMANTIC GAZES.
This post is so delayed, I'm so sorry everyone! Let's rewind back to November when all of us university students were in the middle of studying for our final exams. I used to travel all the way to uni to study with my friends each STUVAC but over the years, I can barely get out of bed after those long weeks of classes and all. However one phone call from my girl, Vanessa where she mentioned "We can order Uber Eats" definitely sparked my attention and yeah... found myself at uni on a day off!
I've never used Uber Eats before! Because it was only recently that it had become available in Sydney. Now if only they would take this service all the way out west...
Anyway so I used Vanessa's friend referral code which got me $10 off my order, and $10 for her to use on her next order. I would love if you guys could also use my code as well which I've listed at the bottom on this post! xx At the time of ordering, there was free delivery but now after I've used this app a few more times they have introduced a $5 flat-rate service fee which I guess is the delivery fee.
The app itself is very very easy to use. You first type in your delivery address (currently only around the Sydney CBD area) and then numerous restaurants pop up and you can scroll through them and check out their menu. You can also filter your search down if you're looking for a particular restaurant or type of food, e.g. "fried chicken", "rice", "pizza", "carbonara". You select your items, place your order, add any notes in such as requesting extra cutlery or less sauce, etc. Then you are given a live update/tracking on your food status and delivery.
Todays choice? We went for the Brooklyn Depot Burgers and Brew! Our process was just as above and our food arrived outside our building delivered by a friendly guy on a bike (so cute). You can also request the uber deliverers come upstairs to your particular room or suite but we were moving around a lot so we didn't request a specific location except the building.
FLAT LAY! Because the food is so damn aesthetic.
I was so pleased with my first experience at Uber Eats and the way Brooklyn Depot packaged the food into the bag! The boxes were stacked neatly and carefully. There was a generous amount of cutlery and wet wipes (all with the logo). And they even taped the bag with some Brooklyn Depot tape. 11/10 for packaging!
Charred Corn $8
This corn was so sweet and juicy! It was nicely charred on the grill and then rolled in a generous amount of chipotle mayo and parmesan cheese. Served on a bed of salad leaves with a lemon wedge.
Vanessa's: Chicky Babe handcrafted burger $14
+ Avocado $2
This is described as "crispy butter milk chicken thigh fillet, depot slaw, chilli relish, American cheese, cowboy caviar and chipotle mayo served on a freshly baked toasted soft milk bun". Vanessa also opted for extra avocado and crumbed field mushroom in the burger yet they didn't charge for the mushroom, score! Being lucky enough as she cut me a quarter of her burger, this was THE BOMB. The chicken was so good and crunchy while the field mushroom was extremely big and juicy. It went really well with the creamy crunchy slaw and fresh avocado. I wish there was more cowboy caviar and chilli relish but it might have just been because I didn't eat the whole burger so there might have been more there. The most surprising thing is even though there is so much packed into this burger and two layers of fried food, it didn't taste that greasy. Overall, we both thought this was an amazing burger!!!
Highly recommend you at the very least get the crumbed field mushroom with this one!
The Reuben Hot Dawg $12
Originally I had planned to order also a burger but upon scrolling down to submit the order, I saw the words "reuben" and I knew there was no going back from changing my order. A reuben has two of my favourite things: pickles and sauerkraut. I even went as far as to request more pickles on my hot dawg. Vanessa said it definitely looked like a lot of pickles but the insatiable craving for pickles inside me was still wanting more. Thank goodness for sauerkraut. This hot dawg is actually really solid. I chose the pork Weiner over the beef and this was put into a freshly baked steamed soft milk bun. It wasn't as soft as the burger buns but regardless held up so well. This was topped with sauerkraut, diced pickles, corned beef, cheese fondue sauce and "depot special sauce". Only thing is I wish the pork Weiner was a little .. softer? Also corned beef had some juicy slices but some really dry ones too.
[Forgot to take an individual photo of these but see below]
Sweet A** Potato Fries $9
WE KNOW WHAT THE ** IS HIDING HAHAHA and I couldn't agree more. These sweet potato fries are the BEST sweet potato fries I have EVER had. I always order sweet potato fries whenever I see them and they usually have some issues like - half of them are still crunchy, raw, not cooked all the way through, too soggy, too crunchy, burnt, etc but these were perfectly seasoned with rosemary salt, not a single uncooked fry, generous cuts and crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside. I couldn't ask for more.
They also are said to be served with chipotle mayo. We received TWO generous tubs of chipotle mayo which was definitely more than enough. The mayo is smokey, creamy and flavourful! It goes so well with everything.
All in all, we both LOVED our lunch from the Brooklyn Depot and we ended up spending the afternoon feeling way too full to study and I even had leftovers to take home.
I highly highly recommend this place and the Uber Eats service! I even more so recommend if you are using Uber Eats to order from this place hehe.
As mentioned at the beginning of the post, I would appreciate it so much if you guys could please use my code for $10 off your first Uber Eats order: "eats-kimn6392ue" :)
TL;DR:
Price: Under $15
Quality: Delicious! Very thorough
Service: Used Uber Eats, but the packaging and delivery was great
Ambience: N/A.
